t's almost summer time. Our school children will have a long awaited summer vacation. That is true for the children of Eleanganny India too! While May is the hottest month of the year in Eleanganny, it is also the only month that the children get vacation from school, so they will enjoy the freedom in spite of the heat! It is 104 degrees there today, and it will be 111 degrees by next Saturday!
By now, all of the Thank You letters from the children and their photos have made their way to FOCI's generous sponsors. I hope you enjoyed them. I cannot believe how much the children have grown in just a year. And I am amazed at the generosity of the Sponsors and Donors. God Bless you!
As I think about what to write in this Summer newsletter, I think back to our early days of creating this charity. We hoped to make a difference for just a few poor children and their families. We didn't know them yet. We were not even sure how we would choose them, because it was clear that so many needed help. We really didn't even know if anyone would consider this a good cause. So, we started small, we worked slowly, and we didn't give up. We had faith.
That is much the way the families live in Eleanganny, they have great hope and faith. They persevere, making progress slowly, to leave poverty in their past. The children are joyful, and the parents are grateful. I know that you could see that in the faces of the families we helped this year.
We are helping one child at a time. One child. That may seem like a small plan. But you have seen the face of the one child who benefits from your generosity. Can you see the possibilities in their eyes? Like the tiny seeds of a dandelion, they appear to be small, but they are strong and persistent. The children you are helping through FOCI will change the lives and futures for themselves and their families. Those tiny seeds will scatter, take root and thrive! There is great possibility even in the smallest things.
He said "Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
We have faith that these children will move mountains. Nothing will be impossible for them.
